On Monday, Jerry and I walked into town with a Reservist Captain who is going to be in Schweinfurt for the next two weeks. We showed him downtown Schweinfurt and had lunch on a restaurant patio overlooking the Marktplatz and Rathaus. The lunch was a German success for me as our waitress spoke limited English and I was able to communicate pretty effectively in German!! Little experiences like these make me more and more excited to use the language as often as possible. After a yummy lunch we went to our favorite Eis Cafe, where the three of us split the above-pictured spaghetti eis! It's delicious vanilla ice cream run through a garlic press to create the pasta, covered with a sauce of strawberries. Though this one didn't have them, some spaghetti eises have grated coconut for parmesan cheese. It was a delicious treat.
While in town, we took the Captain to St. Julian's, the church that I wrote about when I first arrived in Schweinfurt. Here is another picture of the interior of this amazing church:
Wow! That looks super yummy! Can you mail me one? Oh, I guess that wouldn't work, huh? ;-)
