Graduation

On Friday, Jerry graduated from his training program as a paralegal specialist. I don’t think that words can properly express how proud I am of him for completing his Army training. I was so impressed, seeing him as a soldier. Maybe it’s because I’m his wife, but he stood out, having a poised and commanding presence. Jerry was one of two students to graduate on the commandant’s list and therefore graduated before the rest of the members of the class. He also led the class in the soldier’s creed and the army song, which was a surprise for me! He did an amazing job. Again, so so proud of him! Unfortunately, the pictures I took didn’t come out very good. But my handsome soldier is the second from the right in the front row.

Jerry’s home on leave now, but will be leaving for Germany next Sunday. That seems so soon. Too soon. I hate this part. I hate that the better part of our first seven months of marriage will have been spent apart. But I look forward to being together again in Germany. Though my travel arrangements have not been secured, everything seems to be on schedule for me and Scooter to make our way to Germany at the beginning of May. And though it’ll mean another six weeks apart from Jerry, I think I’ll be keeping very very busy preparing for the shipping of all of our stuff to Germany!

This time with Jerry feels bittersweet. It's hard for me to enjoy the time without thinking about how soon we'll be apart again. I wish I was better at this. I guess that will come with time.
