scooter does not think that pickles are treats!

I'm always interested to see which human foods appeal to Scooter...and which do not! As I'm sure you can guess, most foods fall into the category of treats. Like Daddy Giant, he's a fan of Cheezits and Pringles. Tonight I introduced a new treat...pickles! With a great deal of character Scooter turned up his pug nose while spewing a little pug snot onto the offering! And in case you were thinking of sending him mushrooms, you should know that they fall into the category of not-treats.

So, it's been quite awhile since I last updated my beloved blog-readers on the happenings of GiantPantz. The past few months have been pretty intense, with lots of travel, lots of wok, amazing reunions, and heart-breaking goodbyes.

At the end of April, Jerry was sent to San Antonio for two weeks and I was able to join him! It was a little miracle (actually a pretty big one) that allowed us to spend an extra two weeks together. After five months of being apart, words cannot express the feeling that swelled within me when I first caught sight of Jerry approachng me when he picked me up at the airport. I pretty much threw myself into his chest!
We took advantage of our time in the States and hit all our favorite chain stores: Best Buy, Target, Game Stop and others. And although it had its appeal for the first couple of days, we soon grew sick of the retail sprawl. Seriously, how many Targets to people really need? Would it kill them to drive a few extra miles? My first visit to Texas did not impress me and made me appreciate the beauty of Germany even more.
The best part of being in Texas was that we were able to see Elyssa for a few days!

We hadn't seen Elyssa since our wedding so we felt so lucky to get this extra-special treat (way better than pickles!)! The three of us took a fun boat ride along the river walk!
While in Texas we couldn't pass up some good Tex-Mex eating....and drinking! Here I am sampling 'San Anotio's Best Margarita':

YUM!! You can also glimpse new bling on the finger closest to my mouth....a beautiful present from my wonderful husband! He showered me with jewelry trinkets during those two weeks.

...another of our self-portraits. They all look pretty much the same but I know that this particular one was taken at the best margarita place!

Jerry and I had to part ways at the end of the two weeks, but only for a few days. I flew home to Germany and he flew to Kuwait, but two days later I picked him up in Germany for his official two weeks of R and R. Even though I knew that I would see him in just a few days, the goodbye in San Antonio was heartwrenching for me. We had to wait in separate terminals for our flights and I just felt so lonely after having spent two solid weeks with Jerry. Life in the army is hard. But in my next entry (who knows when that will be?!) I'll share the exciting adventures that filled our R and R time!
